ATA Fax

The following pictures provide visuals for connecting your ATA (gray box) to your fax. When connected, you will have both fax and phone connection to other Tri-Valley consortium schools.

The ATA box may be located at the teacher station in the distance learning room or on the rack by the Kodec (digital) or the BNI modules (IP). The front of the ATA box shows (left to right) a) power, b) phone receive and send c) extra ethernet port receive and sent, and d) main ethernet receive and send.

The back of the ATA box will have the following connection ports: (left to right) a) primary ethernet connection; b) secondary ether net connection - can serve as a hub for a computer or wireless telephone system; c) telephone jack from the fax machine; and d) power source.

Fax connection to your ATA will be on the back on the lower right side. You may have two ports. To connect out to your ATA, use the line port.

If the fax is connected correctly, you should hear a dial tone when you pick up your receiver. If you do not hear the dial tone, check the following:

  • Check the power on the front of the ATA box. You should have a blinking lights on power, telephone, and main ethernet.
  • Is your ethernet line plugged into an ethernet connection?
  • Is that ethernet port connection a hot or active link to the internet? (To test, you can connect your IP phone into the extra port.)
  • If not, call John Stritt or email jstritt@esu10.org
