Project Goal:

"Sharing the Arts Through Distance Education" is a project sponsored by the Tri-Valley Distance Education Consortium with the goal of having professional artists and K-12 art instructors develop a residency that will be shared over distance education to staff and students.

As distance and finances are primary reasons why professional artists and resources are not regualarly made available to our schools, the distance education medium provides a way of sharing these resources between students and teachers of many schools with the idea that these costs could be shared by the recipients. The professional artist will also have the flexibility of broadcast location and scheduling as they might be able to split the residency.

The measure of the success of the project will be that the professional artists and the art teachers will view this experience as an opportunity to share the arts in a unique innovative way and will be committed to continue these type of activities in future years.

Project Objectives:

  • To prepare artists and teachers for using the technology in a distance education center to deliver an enrichment lesson.
  • To design an enrichment lesson by professional artists for presentation over a distance education system.
  • To generate new enrichment lessons by art teachers for creating and sharing innovative art lessons over the distance education system.
  • To encourage new residencies by supporting the efforts of Tri-Valley schools in seeking support and funding for future projects.
