Sharing the Arts Over Distance Education Workshop

I learned:

• about Artists in Residence & how they can be utilized through the distance learning programs.
• how distance learning can work and what it is
• just what distance learning is. I came from very little background.
• much more about distance learning. That Prairie Visions will be in Kearney and about Kearney's magnet learning.
• the basic setup for distance learning, its phases, its adaptability
• that I can work with MONA with my 7th grade art curriculum on the long distance program.
• lots about distance learning & grants
• about grants, enrichment lessons, Kearney elementary art, distance learning opportunities
• a great deal of information about long distance learning I never knew before

I liked:

• especially the idea of long distance learning possibilities with the MONA and the possibilities for staff development.
• the enthusiasm that all the information generated amount the teachers and presenters
• interacting with other art teachers.
• thinking about ways to encourage students to interact on the long distance classrooms.
• John Stritt well organized & likes UNK bball. Sheila Brown, a great arts advocate, the lunch was super.
• participation in the distance learning lab. It's always an inspiration to hear/see Sheila and seeing old friends.
• sharing with other art teachers
• the interaction between various schools, teachers, and situations
• that fact that not everyone here had a degree in art. We all had different backgrounds yet share in the passion for the arts. This proves that the arts can attract everyone, they just don't know it yet. All curriculums can incorporate the arts.

I need more:

• time to figure out a plan for our school ..... we are in transition
• tech knowledge as to how this works.
• orange chocolate cheese cake. DL labs - information about what is/could be available. Will "tap" in online.
• knowing more about all the phases & what it would take to go through a lesson.
• I would like more ice breaker ideas from Jerry. He's always used wonderful ideas to get groups going.
• technology background
• contact with art teachers.
• technology experience

• I think it will be fun to get the ESU 11 art teachers organized to do a 1 lesson each.
• This is the technology & advancement I need to get on the train & learn what statewide & locally they can offer.

When I return to the classroom, I will try to:

• educate the other teachers
• experience or think about how this might work to complement and enhance my teaching
• I am going to do the Janine Copple workshop with both of my schools.....somehow.
• incorporate Janine Copple and Julia Noyes DL programs
• assist and make an effort to see the practicality of implementing the learning along with distance learning center
• get the 6th graders lined up to do the long distance printmaking lesson
• implement a distance learning class
• prepare for the 2 enrichment lessons
• definitely take part in the opportunities and become more involved
