TECHS Inservice Presentation Tips

by Graci Gillming

Presenters (TECHS students)

1. Tell the kids to talk slowly (they'll have a tendency to try to talk as fast as they are thinking).

2. Pause where appropriate (to give the audience time to absorb the message).

3. Watch instructor for cues (see #1 below).

4. Ask audience if they have any questions or comments at the end.

Teachers

1. Have hand signals to tell kids to slow down, pause, speed up, or you're doing A-OK (do the last one frequently).

2. Feel like you can interrupt them if/when needed to clarify or give your side of things.

You should all feel good about this event.  Take a moment to high-five yourselves and each other!!  (I just had a visual of high-fiving oneself.  Would that be like clapping?  Guess so.  Applause is what it's all about!)
