I. TVDEC Fall Update

Distance Education Usage:
  • Tri-Valley distance education usage for 1999-2002 was reviewed.
  • Principals were asked to complete the Distance Education Use report for classes they were receiving and sending.
  • Principals are also able to check there School's Use Report.

CCC Report:

  • Columbus and Hastings might be able to provide some class opportunities for Tri-Valley north schools.
  • Through the cooperation between UNK and CCC, a couple of classes have been shared between north and south.
  • WEBCT course management software support classes.
  • Request that CCC and UNK list teachers who have Nebraska teacher certification.
  • College teachers must realize that high school students have activity obligations that might not enable them to attend class everyday. Guidelines for attendance might need to be adjusted in support of their activiites.(The class will be videotaped by the school for those students missing.) - CCC noted that this has been discussed and accomodations are being made.
    • Suggested that local site video tape the first day of classes so that class procedures are documented.

UNK Report

  • Offering a calculus class to Tri-Valley high school. As support for that class, once a week a math tutor provides additional help to students.
  • The course management software program Blackboard supports classes offered over distance education.
  • UNK is looking to provide enrichment or support activities. Examples include "What students should know about college" and a foreign language program.

Class Requests:

  • Business and technology classes - Franklin
